Q&A

You may never go back to what was a normal routine, it may a new routine but that’s ok. After my treatment I found a new routine that worked for me and you can do the same.
I continued to work full time throughout my treatments and surgeries. I also discussed my diagnosis and treatment with my employer and they were able to accommodate me, even though they were small changes, it made working through everything easier.
Everyone’s body changes differently. My cancer treatment put me through early menopause, so of course that came with weight gain, insomnia and other numerous changes. Talk to your doctor about what is going on, they may be able to prescribe something or inform you of programs to assist you. I look at my scares as a battle won. I won against cancer and the scars are reminders that went into battler and emerged victorious.
After cancer I was not the same woman I used to be, she didn’t survive. I am what came after and I’m ok with that that. I’m stronger, more out spoken and I immerse myself in new adventures and activities.
The fear, anxiety, depression and uncertainty has not left me but it has gotten better. I’m not going to lie every once in a while they creep in, but I just push them out and remind myself not today. Today I’m going to be strong and even stronger tomorrow.
My family was very supportive. It helped that they listened to me. Some days we just sat in silence because I didn’t walk to talk. I got tired of talking about breast cancer because I’m fighting it we don’t need to make it a daily subject. Ask your family to respect your wished. If you just want them to listen, just ask. Be blunt tell them what you need.
I found support through different cancer organizations and the hospital where I was treated. It is about find a group or organization you feel fits your needs.
Absolutely! I still get emotional and I’m ok with that. If I need to cry, I cry. Sometimes I scream. I do what is necessary to not carry the stress. What you are going through is every emotional.
For me the worrying has never stopped, but I will not let cancer win. So some thoughts live in my head, but I refuse to let them win. Anything can happen in life, but I tell myself everyday I’m going to live to be an old woman and drive everyone crazy. I try my best to manifest good thoughts.
Any way you choose. My first year of being cancer free I put a candle a Tastykake cupcake and I blew out the candle. It was small and meaningful to me. So celebrate everyday if that is what you want, but out and Live A Great Story!
